The tooth of death
So I've resorted to baby food and brie. On Thursday night the right side of my face began to swell and by the next morning it was up to my temple. Mind you, it was not severe, but still. And the pain was atrocious. What? I was pretty sure that this was not a normal occurance when one gets a tooth prepped for a crown. Saturday morning it was worse and I went back to the dentist. He felt that it wasn't an infection in the root (thank god!) but that I had had some weird reaction to the anesthesia which cause an irritation in my jaw joint. Duh. He gave me lots of Percoset and antibiotics (just in case). I can hardly open my mouth now, and it's almost a week since the procedure. If I don't take at least three ibuprofen every four hours it's horrid. Needless to say the gum is very irritated and I cannot chew on the right side of my mouth. Thus the baby food and brie, applesauce, soft rice. I look at whole meat and cringe. I cry at the sight of a tortilla chip. At least it's great for the waist line...but it makes me terribly frustrated. I'm going to give it two more days and if my ibuprofen (and pain) levels have not decreased I must return to the dentist. I hate the dentist (not the man, just the whole idea). The pain is worse after I have to chew something, which is damn near impossible since I cannot live only on baby food and brie. I must tell you that baby food has come rather far in the taste department.
