spring in Vermont
So, yeah, it snowed two days ago. Not just the light, fluffy kind, the heavy, make-the-trees-bend kind. It's really pretty, but it sucks at the same time. Out like a lion they say. Anyway, here are some pics! The kitten picture is just for you, JD, because I know how much you LOVE cat pictures in people's blogs. But, here's the story (I'll get to the pics in a moment). Last Saturday night as I was taking stuff out of my car I heard this scurrying behind me and turned to catch a glimpse of something feline running from underneath our porch. We often get strays from the barn at our house, but this one was smaller. I called her over and when she finally was brave enough to approach me she just melted into this kitten ball. All black and not much older than 6-7 months. Feeling very sorry for her I put out a box with a blanket and a big bowl of food. The next morning she was still there and it was very cold. So, I let her in. She's still in our house and we've named her Momo after the lemur on "Avatar: The Last Air Bender". I'm such a sucker...so, onto pictures!

We did have this unbelievable morning, though. This weekend is maple weekend and the local forest preserve has this great pancake breakfast. We managed to get there soon after they started serving (in their sap house, which is very large)and the food was amazing! The breakfast sausage is made right there from the pigs they raise totally organically. After food we tromped through the snow for baby farm animal viewing. Silly me forgot her camera, doh! The babies were so cute! There were 11 piglets all scurrying about their very large mama and many baby lambies running free in the pen (with many piles of poop to not step in). So cute! There were many people there, so it was a little crazy. It's so weird going to this place where Vermont tourists flock to and be a local. You take where you live for granted sometimes. However, I'm never bored with what my surroundings produce for me on a daily basis. Vermont is so beautiful!
