Birthday!
Happy Birthday to me!!! Today I turn 36, not a bad age. I do have to say that I'm loving my 30's, absolutely, positively!!! Here I know who I am, where I want to go, what I want to do. I have a beautiful son and a great hubby (who turns 40 on Monday. He's not psyched about that...) and a really great life. My life IS great and all in all I'm a happy person. My "not flu" is better and I'm only slightly grouchy and sick. This particular virus put me out of commission for 4 days and today is the first day I don't feel achy. Still have a cough hanging on, but that too shall pass. And it's my birthday! I consider this the start to the new year, look back at what I've done, etc. I'm going to get a facial today and do a bit of shopping (we're in Burlington, so that also means Indian for dinner!). Yesterday I baked a chocolate cake with chocolate frosting, all from scratch. My sister was appalled at the fact that I made my own cake, but who else was going to do it? I could have asked a friend who owes me one, but I really wanted to do it myself. I'm just looking forward to a few hours of peace to myself. Geoffrey and I went out to dinner last night and the food was ghastly, but we had a fine time. We had this gift certificate to use, so at least we didn't pay for it. How could you get a "fancy" taco salad wrong? The dressing was way too spicy and the sirloin slices too underdone and I just didn't feel like sending it back. The French onion soup was too peppery and the bread too chewy. Oh well, if I had been in a better place I would have complained because I usually don't let those things slide, but I was really tired and hungry and it did the job. We just won't be going back to that place anymore. So, I'm off to hang with the Griff for a bit before I leave. More lovely snow today making things pretty and white.
