Vaccinations and game
So why are parents being threatened with jailtime if they don't comply with immunizations? I think that's going a bit too far. Don't get me wrong, I'm all for immunizations, at least most of them (the chicken pox vacc is a little over the top, plus there haven't been long term studies to see if adults will need a booster if they were vaccinated as a child.), but if you do not agree with the whole vaccination thing then it's your prerogative. I think the state was Maryland, or Minnesota. It began with an M. Sorry, I just read about it but I'm half asleep! Threatning jail is just ridiculous. I know that in VT if you are on the non-believer side you can put your philosophical reasons in writing and that's acceptible. You just have to be super diligent about any outbreaks at the school. I'm not going to go into any arguements for or against vaccinations. My SIL and BIL are SUPER against them since their first child is autistic and they feel part of it was due to vaccinations (mostly the mercury in the preservative Thimeresol) and did not vaccinate their younger children and did their best to convince us not to vaccinate Griffyn. We did, except for MMR since that had a theoretical link to autism. But, it's only theoretical and autism shows up around age two, which is when kids get the MMR vaccine. Anyway, I'm thinking that we will get that one now that Griffyn is almost three. It's just safer. Wait, I'm not getting into that, right? Tonight was the Rupert Game Supper. Chock full of all meat wild. It's a pretty spectacular event with seating arrangements and this awesome local woman shouting out directions into a microphone. Griffyn and I went along with my mom and dad, sister and her family. Fun was had by all. I forgot my camera and am so bummed because it was a hoot! There was this group of people there who always dress up in silly costumes and hats. Plus the large crowd! And the silent auction, oooo. The menu included venison (meatballs, stroganoff - which was super good!, and roast), raccoon (eww, didn't bother), teriyaki moose (didn't go for it, either), bear meatloaf and meatballs (the meatloaf was very good), and of course regular turkey, roast beef, mashed potatoes, scalloped corn and squash. Oh, and gravy! I really like gravy. The locals are also asked to bake two pies (I made an apple/blueberry and pumpkin). I took a slice of cherry pie and Griffyn immediately honed in on the chocolate cake (he only ate turkey and one or two noodles. I didn't dare give him any game meat since it would most likely have ended up in my lap...). Anyway, our town holds some great community gatherings. I love it here...
